The Resurrection of Donald J. Trump
A Christian’s Perspective on the next two months…
2020 has been one of the most consequential years in the history of the world. Honestly, as a Christian, I am just tired. There have been so many events packed into this year and none more consequential than the 2020 American election. As of today, Joe Biden has been declared the President-elect and it seems as if Donald Trump has been defeated in one of the closest elections in American history. Many Christians worldwide believed President Trump to be their champion of conservative and Christian values. Today many find themselves dismayed after the election results came in. If you are in the group of American Christians that is holding out hope that he will be vindicated in the court and returned to power, you may want to continue reading…
I want to warn you that this is purely conjecture; however, the recent events have raised questions in my mind. There’s a specific verse in the Bible that once you read it you will know where this paper is going but try to keep an open mind and not let your political allegiances get in way. Ok, here we go.
Many Christians around the world have theorized and wondered about the events that will take place in the future. We eagerly anticipate Christ’s return. Whether you are a Pre-tribulation, mid-trib, or post-trib believer — all of this applies to you regardless of if you believe in the rapture or not.
No other character or figure draws more attention in this story than the antichrist. The mystique surrounding that central figure draws Christians to speculate every time there is a character on the world stage that pops up and fits part of his description. From Nero, to Hitler, to Obama — Christians have written blogs and drawn up “prophetic” documents claiming each of them to be the antichrist.
Why is the antichrist so appealing for Christians to speculate his identity? In the same way that Jews in Bible times were looking for the Messiah, women and girls of that day would dream that they could be chosen to birth their coming Messiah. It was the most important job a Jewish girl could have — and every one of them wanted it. Enough information was provided in the Old Testament for Jewish people to seek out patterns that they recognized, and the same is true about the antichrist in the future. Enough information is given to us in the books of Daniel and Revelation about him that we begin to build a construct of what we believe he will be like one day.
What do we know about the antichrist from the Bible to be undisputable facts about his identity?
1. Political Leader — Revelation 13:5–7 “was given authority over every tribe, people, language and nation.” He clearly is a leader of a very diverse nation/coalition of nations.
2. Controls commerce “forced all people, great and small…to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads, so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark.”
3. Leader of a Military Superpower — Daniel 7:23 — “Shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces.”
4. Rise to Power from obscurity and will be contested — Daniel 11:21 — receives power peaceably through huge promises and flatteries, but his rise to power will be contested. Daniel 7:8 refers to him as a little horn that emerges from a European block of nations (7 heads, 10 horns)
5. Many Christians will be deceived by him — Matthew 24:24
6. The whole world will be filled with “wonder” at his speeches — Revelation 13:3 “the whole world was filled with wonder and followed the beast.”
7. He will receive a “wound” — Revelation 13:3 “and I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.
With all these undisputed characteristics about the antichrist, the one that many do not try to use as proof of the antichrist’s identity is the deadly wound; however, I want to focus on that characteristic about the “beast”. Many people tend to suggest that this wound will be a deadly physical wound to his health that he will be resurrected from. “The deadly wound” when translated into back to the original Greek is ἐθεραπεύθη, which can be defined to as a blow to the head or a figurative blow of misfortune. With so many people believing this to be a physical blow to the individual’s head many Christian commentators believed that President Kennedy was “in line to be the antichrist” and that he would be released from the hospital after fully recovering from his gun-shot wound. This obviously did not pan out to be true, but it resulted in many people looking for world leaders that had successful assassination attempts to one day be raised from the dead.
It is true that there will be a death blow to this world leader and he will be healed from it, but if we dig into the details a little deeper — I believe we will see a different story altogether and it will be a blow to the power of the beast. I want to describe briefly the system that the antichrist is a part of to see if we can draw any similarities to today.
The beast, as described in Daniel and the Revelation, is a governmental system of 7 heads of governmental power. One of these heads is “wounded unto death; and his deadly wound is healed.” The mortal wound that is described in Revelation 13 is at one of the heads of the governmental system. Meaning, one of the heads of this governmental system will lose power and then be returned to power.
There are blocks of nations all over the world, from the United Nations, NATO, OPEC and many others; however, there is one grouping of nations that has an ominous history and formation. Currently, in the world we live in we have a governmental alliance of 7 of the most prosperous nations called the G7 Alliance. These countries include: Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the UK and the United States. The G7 comes together each year to discuss economic policies and governance, energy policy and international security between the nations and how that influences the world. These nations are the leaders in the developed world; even though they leave out Russia and China (for specific purposes). Russia and China are in the top 5 most powerful nations in the world, why wouldn’t they be in this group? That is because in the end times, Russia and China (Gog & Magog & King of the East) actually war against the antichrist for a period of time. This is when the armies of the world meet in Megiddo, which originally is an attempt to overthrow the antichrist from power, but turns into a fight against Jesus Christ when he appears in the east and the armies of the world begin attacking Jesus and his saints. (If you want to read that story in Daniel and Revelation it is fascinating) The reason it is fascinating is that even though the antichrist rules “over the world” he still has plenty of enemies that wish to remove him from power. (sounding familiar yet?)
One of the heads of the G7 is the United States of America. Many Christians wonder if America is in the Bible because there is no direct reference to the nation. Many believe that the United States must be destroyed before things in the Bible take place, but I do not believe that to be the case at all. The United States is after all a European descent nation. With the majority of the nation coming from European descent — if we trace the history of Americans back it would lead us to Europe. When John sees this beast rise out of the sea with 7 heads, we know that to be a European superpower government that is the revived Roman Empire. The headquarters for G7 after all is in…you guessed it. ITALY.
If we look at these countries as 7 heads and the administrations that run the countries as the heads of those states, then it is possible that the United States is part of this grouping of 7 Nation Heads. That would make The President of the United States, one of the leaders and heads of this European Alliance.
Just today, it has been concluded that Joe Biden has defeated Trump in one of the closest elections in history. Without the advent of the coronavirus, many commentators believe this election wouldn’t have been close. The economy was great, international relationships were at an all-time high, peace treaties between Israel and Arab nations were forming. The world stage appeared to be in a very good place for prosperity. Then President Trump lost…
In the 13th book of Revelation, one of the heads of these countries is defeated with a “death blow”, no other world leader in that block of 7 nations is destroyed or removed — only one. That is until this wound is healed and is returned to power. This leader/administration that is destroyed and subsequently brought back to life takes the role of the antichrist in the account of the Revelation. This defeat to Joe Biden looks like a death blow to the Trump Administration and Donald Trump’s influence on the world stage. Maybe not…
If we take the account of the Revelation literally, something just like what we are seeing today will play out eventually in time. A world leader will suffer a devastating blow to his power and everyone will assume him to be off the world stage, until that is rectified and healed and he is returned to power. I am of the persuasion that Donald J. Trump is that world leader that receives a deadly blow to his power and we are witnesses to it in the 2020 election.
The times are ripe for the Lord to return at any time. There is nothing else that needs to occur for his return and now we patiently wait. The 7-year tribulation is an interesting timeline of events that we know certain things must occur during it. I want to make the case that it is President Trump who will usher the world into the 7-years of Tribulation and is the antichrist of the Bible.
We know about a peace deal that the antichrist makes with Israel and then breaks it at the mid-point of the Tribulation. DJT has made historic in-roads into peace between Israel and the rest of the world, so much so that Jews have referred to him as the “king of the Jews” (Interesting choice of words). No world leader was capable or able, even with aggressive attempts to accomplish what he has done in the Middle East. If we insert DJT into the role of the antichrist, then his power must be restored at some point or another to his 2nd term (whether in 2020 or if he runs again in 2024, I do not know) he will pick up where he left off with the Abraham Accords. We will see widespread peace in the Middle East that the world has never witnessed before. This includes returning the Temple Mount to the Jews and promises protection from neighboring nations (Iran, Syria, Lebanon, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, etc.).
Though the Tribulation as a whole is terrible, it is the final 3 ½ years that are exceptionally horrible, once the antichrist begins to break promises with Israel and commits worldwide atrocities this world has never seen before. So, what happens at this 3 ½ year mark that causes the antichrist to snap and begin breaking all these promises.
If Trump is returned to power in 2020 (or 2024), his 2nd and “final” presidential term will end in approximately 3 ½ years which will remove him from power on the world stage (i.e “lame duck presidency”); however, it is at that 3.5 year mark that he begins to assert himself in ways that were never believed possible. This is when I believe the Great Tribulation begins in that he remains in power of the United States and begins to break every law in America, but also the treaties and laws that were put in place around the world. This is when things get bad on the world stage.
This is why it is essential for DJT to be returned to power. I am not claiming that he will be returned to power in 2020, but it is either in this Presidential rotation or the next when he will be raised back to power and begin his reign of terror. I tend to be on the side of belief that his legal team will take his case to the Supreme Court and he will win in miraculous fashion, which overturns the results of the 2020 election. It will be seen as a miracle.
This overturn is the “healing of the death wound” which causes the entire world to be in amazement at the beast. With the allure of President Trump around the world, unlike any other world leader in the history of the world, if he is returned to power — the entire world will pay attention!
There are a few more reasons to defend why I believe President Trump to be the antichrist.
President Trump has governed fairly conservatively between 2016–2020, which has brought in many Republicans to his defense that were never there to begin with. This includes vast amounts of Christians and Jews from around the world. Because he is Pro-Israel in his governance and because American Christians strongly identify with the Republican Party platform this creates a scenario that we are seeing now, where many Christians and Jews pay more attention to DJT than to Christ himself. American Christians have backed President Trump so much in that now that he has lost the 2020 election, many of them are depressed. The reason I bring this up is because one thing that many Bible scholars struggled with was how does the antichrist get so many Christians to follow him. I mean the Bible is very clear about the allure that he has over Christians and Jews alike. After all, he gets them to worship him instead of Jesus Christ. You can see how that deception must be cloaked in politics that we see on the world stage today. No Christian would knowingly worship the antichrist, but they would chant his name at a rally over and over again — sounds like worship to me. The existence of President Trump has answered that very question, whether he is the antichrist or not shows how this can be done when it plays out.
Do not be surprised if in the next two months the results of the 2020 election are overturned and President Trump remains in power. You might be thinking, so does that mean the Rapture will take place at any time? That depends on the timeline of things, but if you are a pre-tribulation believer, then yes. The wound that is healed on the beast is not stated if it happens during the Tribulation or before. If Trump’s apparent loss is that wound that is healed, that could mean we are entering certain phases highlighted in the book of the Revelation.
What does this mean for Christians? The cognitive dissonance must be killing each of you that support Donald Trump. You want him in power because you believe Democrats to be more of an evil, but after reading this you really don’t want to support the antichrist’s rise to power either because that means the world is about to end very soon. I’ve always felt that the only way Christians and Jews would follow the antichrist and not Jesus Christ is if they were wrapped up in a political game that made them believe that the antichrist was the good guy fighting for them against evil in the world. After all, DJT has created a platform that many Christians agree with — pro-life, religious liberty, etc. This has made many well-intention Christians support President Trump with extreme passion because they believe he’s fighting for their side of things in the world. The antichrist is the great deceiver and trickster and the way he must frame his position in the world to get Christians and Jews to follow him would not be the Democratic Party currently, it would be from a conservative & Republican standpoint.
After reading this I would be genuinely praying for family members who aren’t saved and speaking with them about the importance of turning to Christ now, because this very well could be the last few months many Christians are on this earth. We know God can return at any moment — could the stage that is set on the world today be the stage that plays out during the book of the Revelation? Guess we will find out…
